So You want to be an Innkeeper

Bruce and I have been Innkeepers for 17 years!  Wow, and he thought it was only going to last for 3 years. Come to find out, he actually enjoys it more than I do and I have the hospitality background. It is a very rewarding experience. Most of our closest friends we met at the Cabernet Inn.  Due to Covid-19, our life has turned completely upside down.  You never realize how vulnerable you are until a pandemic happens.  Bruce is a cancer survivor and we found out his respiratory system is compromised. If he gets the virus, it’s unclear if he will be able to beat it.

The Inn has been closed since March 16th! We are unable to open as an Inn, so thinking out of the box, you can now rent the entire property through Airbnb. Crazy , I know!!

We listed the property for sale, fingers crossed.

We will use this blog to inspire some interest.

Love and hugs to all!!

Jessica

Looking into the garden

May 20, 2010 By cabernetinn

The walkway through our front garden.
The walkway through our front garden.

Spring time is one of our favorite seasons in the White Mountains. We patiently watch the gardens emerge from the earth and come back to life with a renewed presence. The tulips we planted last fall are just starting to open and the rhododendron bush is in bloom. We have been hard at work designing and preparing another garden this year. We will keep you posted on the progress.

Seeds n’weeds garden tip – this is a good time of year to divide and transplant perennials such as hostas and day lilies.

I love hikes!

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Cleopatra, Cleo for short. I am a 5 year old Black Lab. The snow is finally gone! I can run, frolic and play. My peoples even took me on one of my favorite hikes on Blackcap Mt.. It’s really great and not too far from the Inn. I know this cause I only have time for a pup nap in the back of the car. The parking area is located on the very narrow winding Hurricane Mountain Road. The hike is one mile to the top of a rock knoll that over looks the Mt Washington Valley from the East. What a view!!!!

We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts, and the Cabernet Inn has just raised our bar of expectation considerably.
